What We Believe
God
We believe there is one Creator God — all knowing, all loving, and all powerful, who exists eternally in three persons, The Father, Jesus the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
(See Genesis 1:1, Deuteronomy 6:4, John 10:30, 1 Peter 1:2, Matthew 3:16-17, 28:18-20; 2 Corinthians 13:14)
Jesus the Son
We believe Jesus is the Son of God, fully God and fully human. He was born of a virgin, lived a perfect life, died on the cross for our sins, was raised from the dead on the third day, ascended to heaven, and will return again in power and glory.
(See John 1:1-5;14;10:30;14:6;10, Isaiah 9:6, Matthew 1:18-25, 1 Peter 2:24, Ephesians 1:7, Luke 24:6, Acts 1:9, 1 Corinthians 15:13, 1 Peter 4:5, Colossians 1:15-20; Hebrews 1:1-3)
The Holy Spirit
We believe the Holy Spirit dwells within every follower of Jesus in order to counsel, equip, empower, guide, and transform each believer into the likeness of Jesus. The Holy Spirit gives spiritual gifts to mature and build up the church for the work of God in the world.
(See 2 Corinthians 3:17, John 14; 15:26; 16, Acts 2:38, Romans 8, Galatians 5; 2 Peter 1:21; 1 Corinthians 6:19; John 3:5; Ephesians 4:30; 1 Corinthians 2:10; 12:4-7; Ezekiel 36:25-28)
The Bible
We believe the Bible is the authoritative word of God, inspired by the Holy Spirit, and is a vital component for helping us understand who God is and His will for our lives.
(See Psalm 1; 119: 9-22; 105, 2 Timothy 3:16, 2 Peter 1:21, Matthew 4:4; John 17:17; Romans 10:17; 2 Timothy 3:16; Titus 1:1-3; Hebrews 4:12)
Human Nature & Sin
In the beginning, human beings were created in the image of God to reflect His glory. He proclaimed that everything He created was good. Because of our rebellion, disobedience and sin, we are separated from God and condemned to die. This separation affects our relationships with God and the way we treat each other. As a result, people live in conflict with each other and are unable to live in a way that pleases God. Our only hope was for God to provide a Savior to restore our relationship with Him and each other.
(See Gen 1:17,27; Isaiah 59:2-4; 1 John 3:8-10; James 1:15; Romans 3:23-24; 5:12; Titus 3:3)
Salvation
We believe salvation is a free gift from God, only obtained by belief in His Son, Jesus Christ. It is given when we hear the gospel and publicly repent of our sins and confess our belief that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God. We demonstrate our faith by obediently submitting to water baptism, by immersion, when we die to self, are raised to
walk in a new life and become one with Him receiving the gift of the Holy Spirit.
(See John 3:16; Acts 2:38; Romans 6:1-4; Galatians 3:27)
The Church
We believe that Jesus now sits at the right hand of God and all authority on Heaven and Earth have been given to Him. He is the head of the church which is the body of Christ on Earth. The church has been called and sent by God to spread the good news of the gospel to the world and bring glory to God by living as children of light reflecting goodness, righteousness and truth by living a life that pleases Him.
(See Ephesians 1:22-23; 4:1-6,11-13; Ephesians 5:8-11; Mark 16:15-16, Matthew 28:18-20)
Christian Living
As Christians, God’s will is for us to be holy like Him. Upon our belief and baptism we receive the renewal of the Holy Spirit which begins to transform our hearts and minds. God’s desire is for us to reflect His glory by loving and valuing others above ourselves. We are commanded to control the desires of the flesh, to honor God with our bodies and to walk in a manner that pleases Him. Our ultimate goal as believers is to become more and more like Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith.
(2 Corinthians 3:18; Colossians 3:10; Ephesians 2:10, 4:1-6,24; Romans 6:6, 8:5-6, 12:1-2; Titus 3:5; Philippians
2:3-5; Hebrew 12:2)
